| Each Saturday this spot will feature a piece that is special in some way! Today's is a necklace and earrings set that I think is spectacular! The focal bead is a beautifully carved, 1 and 1/2 inch carnelian Foo Dog. These were also called lion dogs or temple dogs, and their statues were used to guard the entrances to Buddhist Temples in China, Tibet, and to a lesser extent, India. This carving is very detailed, sharp, and clear. The back side is smooth and has the maker's mark carved into it. Strung on antique coral beads, spiced with cloisonne and filigree brass Ox beads with a matching brass Ox chain back, and comes with matching earrings.
